Domestic means both parties are in the US as identified by PayPal. International, conversion, withdrawal, refunds and special contracts are excluded. Full scope.
Processing fee = payment × selected percentage, rounded to the nearest cent, plus the fixed fee once. Net = payment − fee. Any buyer tax inside the payment is still a liability after processing; shipping, product costs and ads still need their own cost calculation.
US domestic commercial payments in USD: both parties are US residents as identified by PayPal. Select PayPal Checkout/Guest Checkout, Standard credit and debit card payments, Send/Receive Money for Goods and Services, or PayPal Pay Later. International receipts, conversion, Advanced/Expanded Card contracts and other payment types are outside this estimate.
Why does Goods & Services show a different fixed fee?
PayPal's published Send/Receive Money for Goods and Services domestic line is 2.99% without a fixed fee. Checkout and Standard Card lines have their own rates and a $0.49 USD fixed fee. These are separate transaction types; choose the one actually used, not the lowest available rate.
Is the net amount my business profit or bank payout?
No. It is the gross payment minus the selected processing fee. Product costs, postage, ads, taxes payable, platform charges and other expenses still need to be deducted to estimate profit. Withdrawal fees, holds, adjustments and payout timing are not modelled.
Should payment amount include shipping and sales tax?
Enter the entire USD payment processed, including charged shipping and any tax in that payment. This tool does not determine a tax rate or subtract tax payable from processing net. Use the platform profit calculators to keep buyer tax separate from seller revenue.
How is a target net calculated?
The tool finds the smallest whole-cent gross payment leaving at least your target after the selected percentage and fixed fee. It uses the same nearest-cent, half-up estimate rounding as the fee mode and shows the preceding cent's lower net. The supported gross limit is $1,000,000; this is a calculator limit, not a PayPal transaction limit.
